Slough Indoor Tennis courts to close

I was saddened to read on the BBC news website that Slough’s indoor tennis courts are to make way for … a bowling alley.

Indoor tennis courts are a scarce resource as it is, and those that do exist provide all year round sporting activity for players of all ages.  According to the council, the courts were losing £30,000 a year and have offered free coaching instead on outdoor courts, which is a very nice idea… unless it’s raining.

It’s sad to see such a backward looking move from Slough council.
